Bhikkhus, for direct knowledge of lust, 9 things are to be developed. What 9?
1) The perception of unattractiveness,
2) the perception of death,
3) the perception of the repulsiveness of food,
4) the perception of non-delight in the entire world,
5) the perception of impermanence,
6) the perception of suffering in the impermanent,
7) the perception of non-self in what is suffering,
8) the perception of abandoning, and
9) the perception of dispassion.
- For direct knowledge of lust, these 9 things are to be developed.

Bhikkhus, for direct knowledge of lust, 9 things are to be developed. What 9?
1) The 1st jhāna,
2) the 2nd jhāna,
3) the 3rd jhāna,
4) the 4th jhāna,
5) the base of the infinity of space,
6) the base of the infinity of consciousness,
7) the base of nothingness,
8) the base of neither-perception-nor-non-perception, and
9) the cessation of perception and feeling.
